Website Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to the widest possible audience, including those with visual, hearing, motor or
cognitive disabilities. This statement outlines our ongoing approach to making our website accessible to all user groups, including ways in
which text and colour adjustments can be made and what to do if you have feedback or questions.
Our website aspires to meet the standards set forth in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) of the World Wide Web Consortium
Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C WAI). The Dovercourt website makes a concerted effort to conform to the WCAG Priority 2 level,
which removes significant barriers to accessing websites and documents.
Our current accessibility features include:
•
Alternative (alt) text detail for appropriate images and other non-text elements;
•
Title attributes for additional information about links and indication of new browser windows;
•
Structural mark-up language to indicate headings and lists to aid in page comprehension;
•
Association of forms with labels;
•
JavaScript and style sheets to enhance the appearance and functionality of the site;
•
PDF files being created with accessibility features enabled (beginning with those posted since late 2008);
•
Sufficiently contrasting colours to satisfy screen readers;
•
Non-flickering imagery and screens;
•
Contact information is available on every screen; and
•
Links with title attributes or descriptive targets, are written to make sense out of context. Link text is not duplicated.
Text and Readability
Text is presented as machine readable text, so it can be resized, reformatted and easily migrated to different environments so
that it is easier to understand. We also present text in high contrast ratios that usually greatly exceed the requirements of WCAG 2.0.
Non-decorative images are always presented with a filled-in alt attribute, so that they can be interpreted by screen readers.
We also do our best to write plainly for people with reading or cognitive disabilities.
Technology
The technology that we use on this website is designed to be accessible through keyboard usage. When that is not
feasible, we do our best to provide content alternatives. Technology that uses client side scripting is avoided and we
always try to develop in such a way that the content is available if the user has disabled scripting.

Website Accessibility
While we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas
of the website. We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall accessibility.
As we continue to improve the accessibility of our website, we will reflect any changes in this accessibility statement to communicate our
progress.
We value your opinions. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding the accessibility of this site, please contact us.
